ALLENTOWN, Pa. - State. Rep. Peter Schweyer pulled away and stayed ahead of challenger Enid Santiago on Tuesday to win his district once again.

Lehigh County numbers show that Schweyer won with 2,831 votes to Santiago’s 1,652.

Though Santiago ran to represent Pennsylvania’s 134th House District, she had planned to run for the 22nd until the new legislative district maps came out earlier this year.

Santiago said she felt as if she had been “kicked out” of her district, she said in an interview last month.

The redistricting caused Santiago to scramble to collect enough signatures to be allowed to run in the 134th District.

Two years ago, Schweyer narrowly beat Santiago for the Democratic nomination in the 22nd District by a few dozen votes.

With all precincts counted, the Lehigh County unofficial numbers show Schweyer won with just over 63% of the vote.
