BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Firefighters were called Sunday to a smoky blaze that will leave a city pub closed indefinitely, according to the fire chief.

Fire broke out at Pints & Pies Pub-Bethlehem shortly after noon. The restaurant and tavern was evacuated.

Fire crews remained on the scene at 21 E. Elizabeth Ave. as smoke poured out of a vent on the side of the building.

Firefighters used a ladder truck to reach the roof.

The first call came in at 12:20 p.m, according to the Northampton County 911 Center.

The caller reported a fire in the walls, according to Bethlehem Fire Chief Matthew Griffin.

He said firefighters found fire and smoke coming from the structure and were able to contain and extinguish the blaze quickly.

A cause has not been established.

Griffin said the business will remain closed for some time but he did not immediately have a timeframe. The city fire marshal is investigating, he said.

Elizabeth Avenue was closed to traffic at New Street.

The pub is one of two locations in the Lehigh Valley, with the original one in Wilson Borough. The Bethlehem pub opened in November 2023.
