BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Northampton County was in the spotlight Monday night on “PBS NewsHour.”

And so were some of its voters.

The county has a penchant for picking the winner of the presidential election, so it was fertile ground for feedback as presidential contenders Donald Trump and Kamala Harris prepare to debate Tuesday night.

“NewsHour” featured Republican and Democratic volunteers doing the grunt work for the Trump/Vance and Harris/Walz campaigns, as well as the divide among voters on who will chart the best course forward for the nation.

The piece was heavy on the region’s industrial roots but noted it works as a bellwether because it’s a microcosm of Pennsylvania thanks to urban areas, rural farms and middle-class suburbs.
