Veterans Day events honor servicemembers across the Lehigh Valley

From North Whitehall to Danielsvile, veterans are being honored this week.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Throughout the Lehigh Valley groups are planning events to honor the veterans who have served our country to ensure the freedoms we so cherish.

  • Northampton County events:

6-7:30 p.m. Nov. 8 — Nazareth Memorial Library Veterans Day Celebration

1 p.m. Nov. 10 — Veterans Day Parade in Wilson Borough on Washington Boulevard at the five war memorials from South 17th Street to South 21st Street

9 a.m. Nov. 11 — A Salute to Our Veterans at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Roseto

10:30 a.m. Nov. 11 — Annual Veterans Day Program at Upper Hackett Park, Hackett Avenue, Easton

9-11 a.m. Nov. 18 — All You Can Eat Breakfast at Salem United Methodist Church, 1067 Blue Mountain Drive, Danielsville

  • North Whitehall Township Veterans Day luncheon:

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 9 — in the banquet hall of Schnecksville Volunteer Fire Company, 4550 Old Packhouse Road, Schnecksville. Speakers include a representative of the Lehigh Valley Veterans History Project.

The oldest veterans in the township will be recognized.

  • DeSales University Annual Veterans Day ceremony:

11 a.m. Nov. 10 — at DeSales University's Labuda Center for the Performing Arts, 2755 Station Ave., Center Valley.

U.S. Marine Corps veteran Benjamin Busch, also an actor, writer and filmmaker, was recently featured in a CNN report from Ukraine titled “American veterans train Ukrainian volunteers in combat.”

Southern Lehigh High School Band and the DSU Chorale will perform.

  • Williams Township Veterans Day Observance:

11 a.m. Nov. 11 — at Williams Township Municipal Building, 655 Cider Press Road. Retired Navy Corpsman Jan Rutan from the Vietnam era will reflect on Desmond Doss, a WWII corpsman who opposed violence but still earned a Congressional Medal of Honor for saving lives.
