BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Brad Klein reviews upcoming astronomical highlights with Bethlehem’s "Backyard Astronomy Guy," Marty McGuire.

This week, a preview of confirmation hearings scheduled for Wednesday to confirm a new head for NASA. The nominee is Jared Isaacman, CEO and founder of credit card processing company, Shift4, based in Upper Saucon Township.

Isaacman is not a typical financial services executive. He is an avid pilot, and owns a Florida-based company with a fleet of fighter jets that helps in training the U.S. military. And he has funded and flown on two commercial space flights through Elon Musk’s SpaceX.

Isaacman’s nomination “is supported publicly by 28 former NASA astronauts in a public letter released in the last couple of weeks,” according to McGuire. “So, from what we can see, he's got a pretty good chance” at confirmation.

He’s also been a philanthropic supporter of the Da Vinci Science Center in Allentown.
