BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Brad Klein reviews the week’s astronomical highlights with Bethlehem’s ‘Backyard Astronomy Guy,’ Marty McGuire.

This week, a look at the October moon.

Watch for the full moon on Wednesday and Thursday nights, October 16 and 17. The October full moon is known as the Hunter’s moon.

This moon also is a 'supermoon', a bit closer to Earth than average, and thus a bit bigger in the night sky.

And this supermoon is actually, the largest of the year.

Another reason to gaze at the growing moon this week; on Monday night, Oct. 14, the waxing gibbous moon can be used to find the planet, Saturn.

“They're going to be visually close to each other. While they're many millions of miles apart, they'll appear close,” according to McGuire, “after sunset, if you look to the southeast.”
