HANOVER TWP., LEHIGH COUNTY, Pa. - Most flights coming in and out of the Lehigh Valley International Airport will be halted this weekend beginning Friday.

In total, the airport will be closed Sept. 17-20 and again Sept. 27-29.

The Lehigh County facility will undergo two shutdowns when it continues next week as part of scheduled multimillion-dollar upgrades to the airport’s runways.

This will prevent anything but helicopters from taking off and landing there.

Bus service and car rental operations at the airport shouldn't be impacted.

On Saturday the airport will use the lack of air traffic to host an annual emergency response training for area police, fire crews and EMTs.

The Lehigh Valley International Airport is scheduled to reopen for passenger flights Monday.
