HARRISBURG, Pa. - PA Post’s Emily Previti reports its second-highest number in the nation, according to the latest statistics from the U.S. Department of Labor.

To put it in perspective, 23% of the state workforce has submitted claims.

That’s more, percentage-wise, than all states but Hawaii, Rhode Island, Michigan and Kentucky, according to PA Post’s analysis of the latest federal figures.

Those numbers don’t include self-employed workers in most states, because new systems had to be created specifically for them.

Pennsylvania launched its claims portal for self-proprietors and gig workers last weekend.

Users reported several issues, but state officials say they’re working to fix them.
