Ski resorts recommend using your vehicle instead of the lodge for breaks and storage

If you’re planning on going skiing in the region this season, don’t forget your car. You may need it for more than you think. WLVR’s Haley O’Brien visited a resort in Berks County that’s making some changes.

LONGSWAMP TWP., Pa. - Skiing and snowboarding are generally safe activities, since people wear masks, gloves and goggles while outdoors.

Bear Creek Mountain Resort near Macungie is adjusting operations that aren’t so socially distant. Director of Marketing Gary Kline says they are discouraging use of the indoor lodge. Instead...

“We are encouraging people to use their car this year as sort of their lodge. Put your boots on in your car, store your belongings in your car, and take a break in your car.”

The resort also built a food truck and is creating more space for outdoor dining with heaters and tents.

If you’re looking to hit the slopes here this winter, you’re going to have to buy your tickets online because capacity is limited.

This resort doesn’t have an opening date yet, but ski resorts in the Poconos opened over the weekend.
