BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Gov. Tom Wolf has delivered $36 million in grant funding to community revitalization efforts throughout the Commonwealth.
Sixteen organizations in the Greater Lehigh Valley will receive some of this funding.
Local projects aimed at combating gang violence, addressing blight and revitalizing communities received funding through the state’s Neighborhood Assistance Program which is designed to support nonprofits and businesses in distressed areas and low-income neighborhoods.
Statewide, 220 groups got funding.
In Allentown, some of the money will be used to build townhomes for low income families, community center renovations and additional programs for at-risk youth.
And, several projects are aimed at renovating blighted properties in historic Bethlehem.
Officials with the governor’s office said they prioritized projects that address issues created by the pandemic and will provide opportunities for marginalized populations.
Also among the recipients are the Greater Easton Development Partnership for improvements in the West Ward; and the Hispanic Center of the Lehigh Valley for job training and health and wellness programs.
