Easton Juneteenth parade caps off week of festivities

The first Juneteenth Parade in the Lehigh Valley happens Monday in Easton, bringing together Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton. There were a week of festivities to celebrate Juneteenth this year.

EASTON, Pa. — Juneteenth festivities in the Lehigh Valley stretched out for a whole week in 2023.

  • Easton will see the first-ever Juneteenth Parade in the Lehigh Valley from 12 to 3 p.m.
  • Leaders from Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton will take part in the parade

Now, they will be capped off with a Juneteenth Parade in the Lehigh Valley on Monday.

The holiday is the annual commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States.
The parade starts on Northampton St. in Easton and goes from noon to 3 p.m. It will feature area agencies and leaders in the Black community from Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton.

The three-hour event will include drumlines, steppers, fraternities and sororities, children’s groups and dance troupes.
