PHILADELPHIA - COVID-19 forced the traditionally wintertime event out of the Pennsylvania Convention Center and onto 15 acres at FDR Park near the Sports Complex.

Flower Show organizers say tickets are still available, though guests must reserve a date and time for their visit before they show up to allow for social distancing.

This year's theme is “Habitat: Nature's Masterpiece.”

Mike McGrath, who hosts  “You Bet Your Garden” on WLVR and helps organize the Flower Show, says there are more than 75 exhibitors, the highest number ever to display at the show. And the exhibits are all designed to complement the park’s landscape.

“What they have done is integrated all of the park’s horticulture with all of the things that our exhibitors are bringing in. It’s a spectacle. It’s how you see the plants of other countries, almost other worlds’ within our world,” McGrath says, “It’s really going to be a combination of nature’s art and the art of the people who build and grow our displays.”

The park site could be used again, post-pandemic, he says.

“We’re seriously leaning towards it being like this in the future,” McGrath says.

Courtesy shuttles will run on a continuous loop from the Sports Complex]parking lots to the park entrance.

Tickets are $20 for children and $45 for adults.
