BETHLEHEM, Pa. — An anonymous donor has gifted $75,000 to help support teachers and students across city schools, officials announced Wednesday.

The donation is “one of the largest individual gifts” in the history of the Foundation for the Bethlehem Area School District, a nonprofit aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for students and teacher innovation, officials said.

“At the foundation, we aim to be a light — offering hope, inspiration and opportunity for every student and educator we serve. This gift will help us do exactly that.”

“This remarkable act of generosity underscores the power of community and belief in public education,” said Justin Amann, executive director of the foundation, in a news release.

“At the foundation, we aim to be a light — offering hope, inspiration and opportunity for every student and educator we serve. This gift will help us do exactly that.”

The donation will help the foundation strengthen its mission, officials said, which includes enhancing educational experiences, fostering innovation and expanding opportunities across the district.

The funding will be strategically allocated to programs that “promote innovative teaching practices, enhance student learning environments and address critical needs,” according to the release.

“In these times of uncertainty for public education funding, this incredibly generous donation will greatly assist us in delivering our mission to support the students and staff of the BASD,” Ed Broczkowski, president of the foundation's board of trustees, said.

The foundation was created in 1999 following a one-year feasibility study, according to the foundation’s website. It was formerly called the Bethlehem Area Education Foundation.
