BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Bethlehem Area School District has hired a former superintendent to serve as its new chief pupil services officer.
In her new role, Jodi Frankelli, a former chief of schools for Palmerton Area School District in Carbon County, will oversee BASD’s student support services.
Those include special education, counseling, psychology, health, social work and student discipline, according to a news release.
Frankelli will ensure the services are aligned to district goals and state regulations.
Frankelli officially will start in BASD in November at a salary of $172,500. She was granted a five-year contract.
Frankelli is currently serving as Allentown School District’s executive director of early learning. She started in that role in May of 2024.
She came to ASD after serving as Palmerton Area’s superintendent from 2020 to 2024.
Previously, Frankelli also held positions in BASD, including as supervisor of early learning, grants and development and principal of Governor Wolf Elementary School.
Frankelli has a doctorate degree in education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in education from East Stroudsburg University. She received a bachelor’s degree in education from Shippensburg University.
“We are thrilled to have Dr. Frankelli rejoin the BASD team,” Bethlehem Area Superintendent Jack Silva said in a statement.
“Her deep understanding of student needs and her leadership experience will be a tremendous asset to our school district.”
