BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Today is National Read Across America Day, and we'd like to spotlight the work of Lehigh Valley Reads.
Every March, they launch a Million Minute Challenge to help third graders in the Lehigh Valley reach their reading level. It's also a free way to read more, if that's one of your goals. So far, they're at 734,355 minutes. If you'd like to help, sign up here.
1. According to the National Weather Service at Mt. Holly, NJ, today will have a high of 56 degrees and a low of 30 degrees. The morning will bring a chance of showers and fog, and then it will be mostly sunny. Yay!
2. If you've been following the drama around an after-school Satan club at Saucon Middle School, Ryan Gaylor has the scoop. Apparently, it involves a fed-up superintendent. “I know what I signed on for," said Jaime Vlasaty. "My kids, my family, however, did not.”
3. Micaela Hood has a story just in time for Women's History Month. It's on "We Are Empowered: Women Veteran Art Exhibit and Ritual Storytelling," which is opening Friday at ArtsQuest's Banana Factory.
4. North Whitehall Township is trying to figure out what residents want from the spaces they live in. Hint: the answer may be pickleball. Olivia Marble has the details.
5. The Bethlehem Parking Authority has received $15,000 from the state to buy electric vehicles.
