ALLENTOWN, Pa. — An Allentown hospital will get $6.5 million in state funding for its emergency department.
The funding will be used to relocate and expand the emergency department at Lehigh Valley Health Network’s (LVHN) 17th Street Hospital. The money comes from Pennsylvania’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program.

The expansion will fill an LVHN medical building across the street from 17th Street Hospital. It will include emergency rooms, a behavioral health room, trauma, triage, CT and X-ray and on-site case management.
The funding was secured by state Sen. Pat Browne, who is the Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman, and state Rep. Mike Schlossberg.

LVHN's 17th Street hospital has operated in west Allentown for more than 120 years.
