Coroner IDs 3-year-old boy killed Thursday in Allentown shooting

The shooting that killed 3-year-old Elijah Abreu Borgen in Allentown on Thursday remains under investigation, the Lehigh County coroner ruled Friday.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — The 3-year-old boy who was shot and killed Thursday in Allentown was identified Friday morning by the Lehigh County coroner.

Elijah Abreu Borgen died at 12:44 p.m. Thursday, according to Coroner Daniel Buglio.

That's about 45 minutes after Allentown police responded to reports of a shooting at a home in the 900 block of East Hamilton Street.

Inside, they found Borgen suffering from a gunshot wound, Allentown Police Department said in a release.

The boy was taken to a hospital, where he died Thursday afternoon, according to authorities.

Elijah died from a gunshot wound to his body, but the manner of his death remains under investigation, Buglio said after an autopsy was performed Friday.
