EASTON, Pa. — In addition to two traffic deaths that occurred in Lehigh County earlier this week, Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek confirmed three deaths since Saturday in Northampton County auto crashes.
Andres D. Mitchell, 31, of Bethlehem, died Tuesday after the vehicle he was driving was involved in a crash at Newburg Road and West Mayfield Circle in Lower Nazareth Township, according to Lysek.
Mitchell died at St. Luke's University Hospital's Anderson Campus.
Lysek also reported that an 87-year-old pedestrian, Michael A. Vincovitch of Nazareth, was struck by a vehicle Saturday night in the 1100 block of Main Street in Hellertown.
Vincovitch was taken to St. Luke's University Hospital in Fountain Hill, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Also, Joseph R. Hoagland, 68, of Wilson Borough, on Tuesday was driving a vehicle in the parking lot of the Weis Market on William Penn Highway in Palmer Township when he suffered a medical emergency and was involved in an accident.
Hoagland died Wednesday at St. Luke's Anderson as a result of his injuries, Lysek said.
Six crashes on Route 22
On Tuesday, Bethlehem troopers investigated a total of six crashes on Route 22, Trooper Nathan Branosky said.
Three of them were at Route 22 and Route 191, including two incidents just seven minutes apart. They included:
- A crash involving three vehicles in the eastbound lanes at 6:54 a.m. It involved three vehicles, and two people were transported to St. Luke’s Hospital’s Anderson campus.
- A crash in the westbound lanes involving four vehicles at 7:01 a.m. There were no injuries in that incident, Branosky said.
- A crash in the eastbound lanes at 10:25 a.m. It involved four vehicles, and four people were transported to St. Luke’s Anderson.
Branosky said Wednesday throughout Troop M, troopers investigated a total of 20 crashes on Tuesday, including the fatal crash in Weisenberg Township being investigated by PSP Fogelsville.
