HANOVER TWP., NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, Pa. — The drowning of a child in a swimming pool in July has been ruled accidental.
The Northampton County Office of the District Attorney announced the determination in a news release Friday.
On July 3, Colonial Regional Police responded to a residence in Hanover Township after getting a report of a child drowning in a pool.
Following a thorough investigation by Colonial Regional Police and the Northampton County Detectives, it was concluded that the death was caused by accidental drowning.

The child was promptly removed from the pool, and CPR was administered until EMS arrived at the scene.
Upon arrival, police learned that the child was being transported to the nearest hospital, where he died.
Despite life-saving efforts, the child succumbed to his injuries.
Following a thorough investigation by Colonial Regional Police and the Northampton County Detectives, the Northampton County Office of the District Attorney has concluded that the death was caused by accidental drowning.
No criminal conduct was found and no charges will be filed, District Attorney Stephen G. Baratta said.
Baratta urged families, especially with young children who do not fully understand the risks, to be vigilant around pools.
Drowning can occur quickly and silently, often in just a matter of seconds, making supervision vital.
