Identities released in Allentown murder-suicide

The identities of the individuals involved in an apparent Allentown murder-suicide case on Thursday have been confirmed by the Lehigh County Coroner's Office.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Authorities have released the identities of two people killed in a murder-suicide Thursday.

Livi E. Beltran Fernandez, 44, of Allentown, was pronounced dead at 1:12 a.m. in a home in the 2000 block of East Cedar Street, and Jesus J. Cruz Ortiz, 53, of Easton was pronounced dead at 1:10 a.m. at the same location, according to a release from the office of Lehigh County Coroner Dan Buglio.

An autopsy Friday confirmed Fernandez’s cause of death as multiple gunshot wounds, with the coroner ruling the manner of death a homicide.

Ortiz’s cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound to the head, with the coroner ruling the manner of death a suicide.

According to the coroner’s report, the incident occurred on Thursday shortly after midnight.

In addition to the coroner’s office, Allentown Police Department, the Lehigh County Homicide Task Force and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s office are investigating.
