But recent U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids have brought about civil unrest from California all the way to the Lehigh Valley.
This week on Political Pulse, host Tom Shortell and political scientist Chris Borick talk about how Americans are reacting to Trump's immigration crackdown.
"It's a mixed bag, as we often see," Borick said.
Americans appear to be supportive of border security, he said, and "some support" in identifying and deporting illegal immigrants with criminal backgrounds too. Untitled"Then it gets much more mixed in terms of public support for policies that might target individuals living in the country in an undocumented way, who seem to be living normal, healthy lifestyles, contributing to the economy, contributing to their communities," Borick said. "American's aren't very happy when those individuals are targeted for removal from the country."
Borick said, as a result, some recent raids have "pushed the boundaries" of the public's satisfaction with Trump's approach to border security.
What else are Americans in support of or against when it comes to immigration enforcement? Watch this week's episode of Political Pulse to learn more.
