The Lehigh Valley is home to over 100,000 Latinos — a population that political professionals might consider an "untapped" voting block.

BETHLEHEM, PA. — Every Tuesday, Chris Borick, director of the Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion, sits down with LehighValleyNews.com politics reporter Tom Shortell for Lehigh Valley Political Pulse on WLVR.

They discuss the latest trends emerging from science-based polls to break down local, state and national campaigns and issues.

This week, the two talk about the Lehigh Valley's Latino voting block. The area has over 141,000 Latino residents.

"... [It's] one of the most important aspects of the electoral landscape both in the Lehigh Valley and nationally," Borick said. "Latino Hispanic voters are the fastest growing block of voters in the country and that includes the Lehigh Valley..."

The two discuss if increasing Latino voter turnout is as crucial as candidates make it out to be.

"There's more attention I can see right now than in the past," Borick said. "Parties have increasingly paid attention — this cycle, at least it appears that attention is even intensified in efforts by the campaigns… Think this year Tom, in Pennsylvania, where both the Trump and Harris campaigns are looking everywhere for voters."
