ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Police are seeking the driver of a vehicle that hit a pedestrian early Friday morning in downtown Allentown and didn’t stop.

Police and paramedics were called about 3:40 a.m. Friday to American Parkway and Gordon Street, where they found an unresponsive man suffering from multiple traumatic injuries, according to a news release from Allentown Police Department.

The driver of the car “fled the scene immediately,” driving south on American Parkway away from the crash.

The man was being treated at a local hospital, where he is in critical but stable condition, police said Friday. He is expected to survive.

Footage from city-run cameras showed a dark sedan hit the victim as he crossed at the intersection.

The driver of that car “fled the scene immediately” and drove south on American Parkway away from the crash, according to police.

Officials are asking anyone with information about the crash to call the Allentown Police Department’s Traffic Unit at 610-437-7732 or submit an anonymous tip through the Tip411 app.
