ALLENTOWN, Pa. — The Memorial Day weekend is shaping up to be a delightful time for a pool visit or other outdoor activity in the Lehigh Valley with sunny and pleasant weather in store.

According to a tweet from National Weather Service in Mt. Holly, NJ, Thursday's weather will feature abundant sunshine through the end of the work week, with cooler temperatures than earlier in the week.
Sliding into into the Memorial Day weekend, the Lehigh Valley can anticipate predominantly dry conditions, thanks to the arrival of a high-pressure system.

This will lead to a rapid decline in dew points, potentially dropping to the low 30s. Temperatures will reach the upper 60s or near 70 degrees for most areas, presenting a departure of 5-8 degrees below the seasonal average.
In Allentown specifically, Thursday and Friday will be sunny, with temperatures rising to around 75 degrees during the day and falling to about 45 degrees overnight.
As the long weekend approaches, we can expect dry and slightly cooler weather, accompanied by mostly clear skies and a scattering of clouds, and a beautiful as well as slightly warmer weekend to enjoy.
Meteorologist Bobby Martrich from the Eastern Pa. Weather Authority, mostly concurs with the NWS prediction but also takes the European model into consideration.
A low pressure system coming up from the south could bring not rain but cloud cover to the southern part of the Lehigh Valley on Sunday.

The cloud "boundaries" will control the area's cloudiness and temperatures, he said, meaning that it could get warmer in the more northern locations and into the Poconos. Specifically, while it could be 70 in Macungie, it could go up to the 80s in Stroudsburg.
"We don't expect any rain from it," he said.
Monday starts a warm up into next week, Martrich said, which will get even warmer if there is no rain.
"Temperatures will overperform over time," he said.
