BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Following Tuesday's snow and the current forecast for Friday, many Lehigh Valley schools are announcing virtual instruction or closing entirely.
Bethlehem Area, Easton Area, Nazareth and Southern Lehigh school districts will be entirely closed on Friday, Jan. 19, 2024.
Northampton Area, Allentown, East Penn, Bangor Area and Parkland school districts are among those that will observe a Flexible Instruction Day (FID), where learning is remote and often asynchronous.
Catasauqua Area School District announced a virtual snow day, which seems similar to an FID.
Many districts announced their plans on Twitter first, followed with an emergency update alert on their websites.
Some school districts used the phrase "traditional snow day" — a signal that there would be no requirement for remote learning or remote work.
The bulk of the storm is expected to hit after 4 a.m. and before 11 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Accumulation is expected to be between 3 and 6 inches over the course of Friday.
