UPPER MILFORD TWP., Pa. - A 1½-year-old boy died Thursday after being struck by a vehicle on Bachman Road, state police and the coroner's office said.

It happened about 4:15 p.m. in the 5300 block of Bachman Road.

Troopers attempted lifesaving measures and the boy was taken by ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, where he was pronounced dead by the Lehigh County coroner, according to a news release.

State police at Fogelsville are continuing the investigation.

State police in the release did not provide details on the striking vehicle or the circumstances of the crash.

Lehigh County Coroner Dan Buglio said Friday the child has been identified, but will not be released at this time to allow the family privacy as they navigate a heartbreaking loss.

Buglio extended condolences to the child's family and said his thoughts were with them during a time of unimaginable grief.

Note: The story has been updated to reflect, per the coroner's office, the age of the child was 1½, not 2½, as first reported by state police.
