BETHLEHEM, Pa. - A 17-year-old student has been charged in connection with a threat made against Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts.
Authorities evacuated the school following what was described as an "anonymous threat" Monday morning.
Hundreds of students were seen outside the school on Third Street in South Bethlehem as police responded to the incident around 8:20 a.m., with the school day just getting underway.
Bethlehem Police Captain Nick Lechman said the school received a threat against the building and school administrators opted to evacuate. Police arrived and assessed the situation, ultimately determining the threat was not credible.
Students were escorted back inside after about 30 minutes and resumed classes.
Through investigation, police say they identified a 17-year-old student at the school as the source of the threat.
An updated Facebook post says the the matter has been referred to the Northampton County Juvenile Probation Department, where the student is charged with terroristic threats and making false reports to law enforcement.
