Update: Police seek information after man found shot dead in Salisbury Township

The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office said Richard A. Costello, 65, was found dead at 9:37 a.m. at his home on Friday, Aug. 2. The cause of death was a gunshot wound to the stomach.

SALISBURY TWP., Pa. — An investigation is ongoing after a Salisbury man was found dead of a gunshot wound in the township.

The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office said Richard A. Costello, 65, was found dead at 9:37 a.m. at his home on Friday, Aug. 2.

An autopsy was completed Monday and the cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to a news release.

Costello was discovered during a welfare check after police were contacted by a concerned family member.

The manner of death is pending investigation, the release said.

In addition to the coroner’s office, the Salisbury Township Police Department, the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office and the Lehigh County Homicide Task Force are investigating.

On Tuesday, the district attorney's office asked anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Salisbury Township Police at 610-797-1447.
