Man charged in Lehigh County road rage incident

According to a release, John C. Miles, of Palmerton, Carbon County, has been charged in the incident that took place Monday, Nov. 11, 2024.

LYNN TOWNSHIP, LEHIGH COUNTY, Pa. —  Authorities have made an arrest in a road rage incident that took place in the township last fall, it was announced Thursday.

According to a release, John C. Miles, of Palmerton, Carbon County, has been charged in the incident that took place Monday, Nov. 11, 2024.

According to police, troopers responded at approximately 10:20 p.m. that evening to a report of a vehicle struck by gunfire while traveling southbound on the 5600 block of Schochary Road.

Investigators later determined Miles fired a .380 handgun from his vehicle, discharging two rounds that struck the bed of a pickup truck.

On Wednesday, Miles was charged with aggravated assault and discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure.

He also is charged with simple assault, terroristic threats, and recklessly endangering another person in connection with the incident.

According to court records, Miles was arraigned Wednesday and committed to Lehigh County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail.

Assisting with this investigation were the state police Troop M Forensic Service Unit, Palmerton Police Department, Carbon County District Attorney's Office and Lehigh County District Attorney's Office.
