ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Students at William Allen High School were sent home early Wednesday morning, Allentown School District said in a news release.

The release said mechanical issues in a portion of the school necessitated the closure, and students would be dismissed at 9 a.m.

Students attending Lehigh Carbon Community College and Lehigh Career and Technical Institute were being bused to their respective campuses.

No other schools were impacted, district spokeswoman Melissa Reese said.

The district had no further information on the mechanical issues, Reese said, and could not comment on whether the closure would extend beyond Wednesday.
